Guess the Footy

Guess the Football Player

A new mystery footballer every day, for the 2026-27 season. You get 8 guesses — each one shows how close you are on club, league, nationality, position, height, age and shirt number. No sign-up, no app, and an unlimited mode for when one a day isn't enough.

How to play

  1. Type any current player from Europe's top-5 leagues (Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1) and pick them from the list.
  2. Each column turns green when it exactly matches the mystery player, yellow when you're close (a neighbouring position line — keeper next to defender, defender next to midfielder, midfielder next to forward, or within 2 for the numbers), and stays grey when you're off.
  3. Arrows (▲ / ▼) on height, age and shirt number tell you whether the answer is higher or lower.
  4. Solve it in 8 guesses, then share your result.

Tips to win

Open with a well-known player who anchors the clues — a recognisable forward or midfielder from a big club. Read the categorical hints first: league and club narrow the country and squad fast, and nationality often cracks it open. Then use the up/down arrows to binary-search height and age. Shirt number is frequently the clue that pins down the exact player.

Why Guess the Footy

People search for this game under a few different names — soccer wordle, football wordle, guess the footballer — it's all the same mystery-player format underneath. Guess the Footy is built to be the cleanest way to play it: Unlimited mode lets you keep guessing as many players as you want instead of waiting until tomorrow, and Nations mode tests you on players from current national-team squads instead of clubs. It's fast, mobile-first, and there are no intrusive ads. Squads are refreshed regularly so the answers stay current.

Frequently asked questions

Which players can I guess?
Current players from Europe's top-5 leagues (Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1). The daily answer is always a well-known player.
Is there an unlimited version?
Yes — Unlimited mode gives you a fresh random player every round, so you can keep playing as long as you like.
Is this the same as soccer wordle or football wordle?
Yes — 'soccer wordle' and 'football wordle' are just other names people use for this style of daily guessing game. Guess the Footy is that game, built for football.
What happened to the World Cup mode?
It's now Nations mode — guess a player from a current national-team squad, any time, not just during a tournament.
What do the colours mean?
Green is an exact match, yellow means you're close (a neighbouring position line — keeper next to defender, defender next to midfielder, midfielder next to forward, or within 2 for height/age/number), grey means it's off. Arrows show whether the answer is higher or lower.
Is it free?
Completely free, with no account required.
